Trail Work Day – Saturday – September 26, 2020

Volunteers are needed to assist with developing a natural surface trail on parkland owned by the Town of Occoquan. The trail workday is Saturday, September 26 – National Public Lands Day. We will clear a trail, a loop about 3/4 of a mile, in the parcel shown on the map.

The work will include removing fallen branches from the trail route, clearing the path with loppers and other hand tools, and some bench cutting (digging the trail into a slope). Tools will be provided.

Time: 9:00 am to noon

The location is the corner of Old Bridge Road and Tanyard Hill Road. Street address is 1940 OLD BRIDGE RD, WOODBRIDGE, VA 22192

Occoquan cleanup results (Sep 12, 2020)

Many thanks to the volunteers who came out and worked to remove trash from the Occoquan on Saturday.

  • about 44 bags of trash were removed from the water in the vicinity of Lake Ridge Park & Marina
  • about 25 bags of trash and two tires were removed from the water near the LRPRA boat ramp (Hooes Run)
  • 10 bags of trash and a variety of large plastic items were removed from the water at Riverview Estatates HOA

Results from other sites are still being tallied.

Thanks again for the stewardship of the volunteers working to keep plastic pollution out of our waterways.
