Valley View Park - Our First Trail Project 2007

Trail Reconnaissance on March 24, 2007. A lot of work to be done!

National Trails Day - June 2, 2007 - Valley View Park

We had a lot of volunteers show up and did a lot of trimming, spreading of gravel, building fair weather crossings and hauling out trash.

April 5, 2008 - Cloverdale Park Clean-Up

PWTSC helped the community with the clean-up of Cloverdale Park. This is only a fraction of the trash that was collected.

National Trails Day - June 7, 2008 - Andrew Leitch Park

We spread a lot of gravel, built a lot of water bars and cleared out a lot of trash.  The picture to the right shows a section of trail after our work was done.

Fall, 2008 - James Long Park

In late summer into fall, 2008 PWTSC volunteers built approximately 2 additional miles of trails though the newly acquired 66 acres of woodland that is now part of James Long Park.

February, 2009 - Locust Shade Park

Before we started, there were a lot of downed logs and small trees that needed to be cleared to make a trail

After a hard day of trail building, we added a 1.2 mile loop which connects to the original trail.

March, 2009 - Broad Run Trail

We had our work cut out for us that day. Spread 100 tons of stone dust over about a half mile of trail and build a fair weather stream crossing.  Our many volunteers were up to it and by the end of the day we had a lovely stone dust trail built.

April 18, 2009 - Earth Day

PWTSC celebrated Earth Day with an outreach event at the McCoart Building.  We had educational games and displays as well as pony rides.  The kids loved testing their knowledge of animal names and making plaster animal tracks.

June 20, 2009 - Town of Occoquan 3rd Annual Duck Splash
