Powell’s Creek cleanup – Saturday February 25, 2017

Meet on Saturday February 25th, at 9:00 am, for the cleanup in the wooded area along near Powell’s Creek.  This is an area where storm water sweeps trash down from the developed area and deposits it in the woods, or carries it on to Powell’s Creek.

We will gather at the Riverwoods at Woodbridge apartment complex which borders the wooded area.  The specific address is:

Woodbridge, Virginia 22191

This cleanup is co-sponsored by the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District, and PW County Public Works Department will haul away the trash gathered by the volunteers.

Lake Ridge trail – sites 4 and 5 completed

Work was completed on sites 4 and 5 (of trail segment two) during the first week of January 2017. Segment two is the section along the Occoquan Reservoir, from Lake Ridge Park to Hedges Run Drive.  Sites 4 and 5 are shown on the attached map.  This completes all work scheduled by the PW County Parks Department on that section of trail.

Lake Ridge trail work continues

Work to improve the Lake Ridge trail along the Occoquan reservoir was underway in December 2016.  Equipment and materials were delivered to the staging area on December 2, 2016, by the company employed to complete the work (under supervision of the PW County Parks Dept).  The work includes installing culverts and restoring the trail surface at two erosion sites (sites 4 and 5), on the trail near Critton Circle / Collingwood Court.  By December 18, a significant portion of the work had been completed. These pictures show the conditions at sites 4 and 5 prior to the trail work, and conditions after the trail work had been started.
