A bridge that washed out several years ago on one of the trails in the Westridge community, crossing Airport Creek, is being replaced! Work is underway to build a new bridge at the site, shown on the map below.

The old bridge (or crossing) was a blacktop path over two culverts in the stream. Erosion undermined it and the blacktop crumbled. The culverts were removed. Here’s a picture of the site from July 2019, after the bridge had been closed.

Currently, a crew is on-site building abutments for the new bridge. The new bridge (an iron truss bridge about 25 feet long) is on-site pending installation. This is great news for the pedestrians and bicyclists who have been crossing the stream on stepping stones in recent years.
