Volunteers removed trash from the Hooes Run area of the Occoquan Reservoir on Saturday, Oct 13. Paddlers in canoes and kayaks launched from the Lake Ridge Parks and Recreation Association (LRPRA) boat ramp to gather trash, and other volunteers walked on trails in the area and picked up trash near the water. Thirty-five volunteers participated; a total of 48 bags of trash were collected, plus an assortment of larger items: wheeled trash can, bike, discarded electronics, tires, cushioned chairs, rain gutter pieces, and a length of flexible plastic tube about 120 ft long found floating in the reservoir. Thanks to all volunteers who participated including the 4-H Footprints group from Manassas. And thanks to the PWC Parks & Recreation Dept that supported the cleanup by providing two canoes and a boat.
