76 bags of trash, 23 tires (and more!) removed from Neabsco Creek

November 5, 2016November 6, 2016

Thanks to the twenty-two hard working volunteers who made difference by clearing a huge amount of trash out of Neabsco Creek this morning (Saturday, November 5, 2016).  They filled 76 bags of trash, collected 23 tires, and picked up a mix of other items – construction barrel and cone, bicycle, TV, plastic drain pipe, and sports items (balls – football, basketball, soccer, tennis – and a baseball bat). The bulk of the trash was plastic bottles, which get washed downstream by storm water, and deposited in this flood plain area of Neabsco Creek.

The Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District provided supplies, and the PWC Public Works Neighborhood Services crew arrived at the end of the cleanup to haul the trash away.
