Volunteers worked on June 7 and 8 to build a new bridge on the planned route of the Occoquan Greenway Trail, in the Hooes Run open area. Erosion was undermining an older bridge at the site, so it was replaced with a longer and wider footbridge. In addition, the streambank was reinforced with a stone at the spot with the worst erosion, which should help to slow or prevent future erosion.
Thanks to the volunteers who worked on this project, to keep the trail route open and usable for hiking and biking. And thanks to the Lake Ridge Parks & Recreation Association (LRPRA) for providing the materials.
